Staten Island, New York 10305
The Children's Cancer Center offers high quality advanced medical care. If your child becomes a patient, we will discuss our state-of-the-art treatment plans with you, in accordance with the Children's Oncology Group (COG) guidelines and protocols. Dr. Vaiselbuh and her team are active in the American Society of Pediatric Oncology (ASPHO), which explores new trends and breakthroughs in the evolving field of childhood cancers. All diagnostic studies, including biopsies and treatments, can be done in Staten Island, which removes the burden of commuting to large centers away from the Island. This will improve family-centered care and help to maintain the normal schedules of your family life.
The Children's Cancer Center will focus on your child's advanced and personalized care. This effort includes the Back-to-School program to help your child successfully integrate into school life after being treated for cancer. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society run Back-to-School and other programs, such as Living-through-Learning-Experience. The Children's Cancer Center is the designated site on Staten Island for LLS programs. You will also have access to a variety of other services in a patient and family support group called Butterflies Blues. This group allows you and your child to meet other patients and their families in a relaxed atmosphere. Helping you and your child to cope with life-altering experiences while encouraging parental autonomy and initiative is among the goals of Butterflies Blues.
