As one of the largest laboratory system in the Northeast, Northwell Health Labs offers patients a wide variety of clinical testing procedures at our Patient Service Centers conveniently located throughout New York City and Long Island. Our labs examine samples of blood, urine, other bodily fluid or tissue to get information about a patient’s health. We recognize the importance of laboratory results in patient care. With professionally trained phlebotomists and friendly support staff, we provide competent service with accurate diagnostic results.

Blood draw

Blood tests are used to diagnose and monitor treatment for a variety of conditions. Northwell Health Labs makes getting blood drawn easy with services at all our Patient Service Centers. Before visiting one of our conveniently located locations for blood drawing:

  • Call your physician or the Northwell Health Labs location nearest you to determine if tests ordered will require fasting or special preparation.
  • Be sure to bring a copy of your physician’s test requisition or prescription along with your insurance information or card.
  • Appointments are only necessary for time-sensitive tests such as glucose tolerance and platelet aggregation.

Our experienced phlebotomists are also trained in pediatric care and will use calm and gentle techniques to make sure your child feels as comfortable as possible. Ask for a copy of our Parent’s Guide for some helpful tips for you and your child.

Your physician will receive a completed report from Northwell Health Labs when your test results become available.

If you do not have your insurance card, we will still draw your blood. However, you will have to follow-up by faxing a copy of your insurance information directly to our Billing Department at (516) 414-3825. We accept all major insurances. We also accept payment via cash, check or credit card.

Translation services are available in more than 180 languages. Ask the phlebotomist for assistance.

You can get your test results directly from us. To get results sent to you, download the "Patient Request to Access or Disclose Laboratory Test Results form." Fill out the form and return it to us.

Patients may request results over the phone, via email, via fax and in person.  The Authorization for Release of Health Information Pursuant to HIPAA Form must be filled out by the patient or representative before results may be released. The form contains patient specific identification information and it may be mailed, emailed, faxed or picked-up at the laboratory or at any Blood Testing Service Center. Upon completion of the request form, and all required verifications, the results can be released to the patient or authorized representative. Results may be picked–up from the performing laboratory or at any Blood Testing Service Center. Alternatively, the results may be faxed, e-mailed, or mailed to the patient at the address which is maintained on file. Results are also available to some patients through FollowMyHealth, North Shore-LIJ’s patient portal; call (888) 670-9775 for questions/technical support. Patient results will be available four days after all laboratory test results are complete.

The laboratory cannot answer any questions in reference to interpretation, diagnosis or treatment of laboratory results. All questions regarding testing and the results will be answered by the patient's physician only

Laboratory results

Information empowers patients. That’s why we’ve made it easy to get your lab information, so you can get valuable insight into your personal health.

To receive a free copy of your recent lab test results, just download the Authorization for Release of Health Information form and send the completed form to the Laboratory Services Center. Lab results can receive results by phone, email, US mail, fax, or in person. Most tests take up to four days to complete, though some results may take longer.

Lab results can only be released to the patient or an authorized representative. Results are also available to some patients through FollowMyHealth, Northwell Health’s patient portal; call (844) 364-8108 for questions/technical support.
