Sinus Headaches

Sinus Headaches

A common cause of headaches is when your sinuses (the cavities around your nose) become inflamed and unable to drain fluids properly. This results in what is known as sinusitis. A painful condition, sinusitis may result in greenish-yellow discharge, the inability to breathe through your nose and even an annoying cough. You may feel the pain from a sinus headache in your jaw, face and/or head.

Sinusitis may be caused by a virus, a bacterial infection, allergies, or an infection in your tooth, among other things. It generally lasts for only a short time, but you should consult your doctor if the symptoms last longer than a week, if you are running a fever, or if this condition recurs frequently. Your doctor can recommend the best treatment, depending upon the cause of your sinus headache.
