Pulmonary fibrosis

Pulmonary fibrosis

Pulmonary fibrosis is a condition in which there is scarring of the tissue in the lungs. This tissue gets thick and stiff. That makes it hard for you to breath, and your blood may not get enough oxygen.

It can be caused by many conditions, including chronic inflammatory processes, infections, environmental agents, exposure to certain gases, exposure to ionizing radiation and chronic conditions.

  • Aching muscles and joints
  • A dry, hacking cough that doesn't get better
  • Clubbing of the fingers or toes
  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of breath
  • Weight loss for no known reason

Our approach

Pulmonary fibrosis patients are treated with medicines, oxygen therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation. The treatment goal for pulmonary fibrosis is to prevent more lung scarring.
