Each fellow is expected to participate in a research project under the mentorship of a faculty attending. Fellows are introduced to ongoing research in the Division in the first year through our quarterly research in progress updates. They are encouraged to choose an area of interest and develop a research question with guidance from their faculty mentor. By the second year, fellows are expected to formulate an IRB proposal so that the third year can be devoted to pursuing their research project. Our fellows present their research at the American Thoracic Society International meeting, American College of Chest Physicians, Northwell Health’s Academic Awards Day and the Department of Medicine’s Lawrence Scherr Awards. Active research is ongoing in point of care ultrasonography, critical care echocardiography, pulmonary hypertension, cystic fibrosis, asthma, COPD, sleep disorders, sepsis and critical care management, telehealth, and medical education.
Please see attached list of publications for the previous academic year. Fellows’ names are highlighted in bold.
