We offer exceptional residency and fellowship programs and provide ongoing education for practicing physicians. It's an integrated, hands-on approach to making today's surgeons even better—and offering the right expertise to the surgeons of tomorrow.
Graduate medical programs
Fellowship in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Zucker School of Medicine
The cardiothoracic faculty and staff at Northwell Health believe the best way to train cardiothoracic surgeons is through an integrated, hands-on approach with increasing levels of responsibility. This is why we offer a two-year comprehensive, ACGME-accredited thoracic surgery residency program.
Integrated Thoracic Surgery Residency Program at Zucker School of Medicine
The Integrated Thoracic Surgery Training program at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital and Southside Hospital is a six-year comprehensive experience in general surgery, medical subspecialties and clinical cardiothoracic surgery, including pediatric cardiothoracic surgery, general thoracic surgery and adult cardiac surgery.
Continuing medical education
Northwell Health offers physicians currently in practice a variety of opportunities to advance their skills. Through our AMA PRA Category 1 Credit continuing medical education courses held throughout the year in a variety of topics, we offer physicians the chance to brush up on skills, learn new techniques and discuss the evolving role of health care in our society. We also host a number of regularly scheduled series, including bimonthly thoracic tumor board meetings and monthly cardiovascular and thoracic surgery grand round lectures.
