Innovative, hybrid procedures for everyone

Within the Surgical Hybrid Suite, we provide the latest hybrid interventions which combine percutaneous coronary artery interventions (stents) surgery (MICS CABG) and catheter based coronary intervention (PTCA stenting). The goal of the surgical hybrid suite is to provide leading edge therapies to patients who necessitate coronary intervention (stent), as well as complex valve therapies (tavr/bav).

Percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) are usually considered very safe procedures because they are minimally invasive and require only a general anesthetic and a mild sedative for comfort. However, there are a few risks to be considered before surgery. These include:

  • Bleeding at the catheter insertion site
  • Damage to blood vessels or perforations
  • Damage to the hearts electrical signals from over-ablation
  • Pain at catheter insertion site
  • Post-operative blood clotting
  • Allergy to contrast dye used
  • Infection

PCI procedures are considered very safe and effective. After surgery, your heart will function stronger and may have better circulation. Your risks of developing more adverse heart conditions will decrease.

We provide cutting edge therapies to patients who necessitate coronary intervention (stent), as well as complex valve therapies (tavr/bav). Hybrid intervention combines percutaneous coronary artery interventions (stents) surgery (MICS CABG) with catheter based coronary intervention (PTCA stenting).

If you have a planned hybrid surgery, you will receive a general anesthetic and be asleep through out the procedure. Hybrid surgery carries more risk than PCI, although it is often a necessary precaution and an effective surgery.
