Andrea Adams is a board-certified adult nurse practitioner. She joined the department of neurosurgery at North Shore-LIJ Health System (now Northwell Health) in 2009. After many years of teaching undergraduate nursing as an assistant professor, Andrea returned to full time, direct patient care.
Andrea manages and coordinates the care of neurosurgical patients with brain and spinal disorders from simple procedures to complex surgeries. Her specific areas of expertise are cerebrovascular diseases of the brain and spine (aneurysms, arteriovenous malformation, cavernous malformations and moyamoya disease), stroke management, brain and spinal tumors, normal pressure hydrocephalus management, and spinal disc diseases. Andrea contributes to patient care by demonstrating the following core values: caring, excellence, innovation, integrity, teamwork, and advocacy. In addition, Andrea is a Stroke Certified Registered Nurse.
Andrea was an Exceptional Patient Experience nominee for the 2014 President’s Award, and a 2015 Team Award Winner for Innovation. She also has professional membership with the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses.
