Steven Walerstein, MD, is senior vice president of medical affairs and associate chief medical officer at Northwell Health. 

Previously, he was executive vice president for medical affairs and medical director at NuHealth, with oversight of the provision of care throughout the organization. Prior to being appointed medical director for NuHealth, Dr. Walerstein was vice president for medical affairs and associate medical director for New York Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn. Before that, he served as chair and program director for the department of medicine at Nassau University Medical Center.

Dr. Walerstein is associate professor of medicine, Zucker School of Medicine, and adjunct professor for the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and the American University of the Caribbean.

Dr. Walerstein received a bachelor's degree and a doctor of medicine from the six-year Bio-Medical Program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Albany Medical College. He completed his postgraduate training in the primary care internal medicine program at George Washington University Hospital.
