Christine Moran, RN, has made a positive impact in nearly 10 years as chief nurse executive and vice president of behavioral health services at South Oaks Hospital

Aside from overseeing clinical care for the 197-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital, she is responsible for a 30-slot partial hospital and two outpatient clinics that annually services more than 700 patients with psychiatric and substance abuse disorders. 

Ms. Moran supervises a clinical staff of more than 400 and has improved the culture of safety, quality and patient experiences at South Oaks. She also implemented trauma-informed care throughout the organization and significantly reduced use of restraints.

Previously, Ms. Moran served as chief nursing and clinical officer at Sandy Pines Hospital in Tequesta, Florida, and various positions in the health care industry, including behavioral health staff educator at St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center in Manhattan and nurse manager at the Payne Whitney Clinic, a psychiatry clinic affiliated with New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Ms. Moran has presented nationally on topics such as trauma-informed care, restraint reduction, and staff and patient-safety improvements. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and a bachelor’s in psychology from Stony Brook University, where she graduated summa cum laude. She also received an MSW from New York University’s School of Social Work.
