Surgeons remove rare tumor, save baby girl’s sight

Makaila was a healthy baby by all standards, until a mysterious facial mark appeared a few days after her birth. What started as a small, red mark quickly grew into a large mass, covering her face and threatening her vision. That’s when Makaila’s parents turned to Dr. Milton Waner, pediatric facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. He removed the rare hemangioma from Makaila’s face, sparing her sight and giving her a shot at a normal life.
