Squashed Sugary Drinks Ban Means More Self-Policing

– The New York Court of Appeals recently overturning the New York City ban on large sugary drinks means people need to be more aware of their carbohydrate intake, a New York endocrinologist says. There are about 65 grams of sugar in a 20 ounce can of soda, which, if not properly balanced, may help to put someone over the number of carbohydrates they should be consuming in a day. It may be difficult for people to estimate how much sugar and carbs they are eating, but Dr. Myers suggests using the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s MyPlate website and tools to help you determine an adequate amount of carbohydrates in your diet.
