Obesity related cancer rates continue to rise

Obesity is typically associated with diabetes and heart disease. But, it’s also a risk factor for 13 types of cancers and the rates of those cancers have increased in the last 10 years, according to a new report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dr. Keri Peterson, internist at Lenox Hill Hospital, called this report a “wake up call” and a reminder that an important part of cancer prevention is maintaining a healthy weight.
