New School of Graduate Nursing

Hofstra University and the North Shore-LIJ Health System recently announced the launch of the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Graduate Nursing and Health Professions, expanding on their innovative and successful medical school partnership to redefine graduate nursing education. The three-year program will lead to a Master of Science degree in nursing as a family nurse practitioner (NP), or an adult-gerontology acute care NP. Hofstra’s two existing programs in Physician Assistant (PA) Studies – a dual degree program and a graduate program – will be housed in the new school. Kathleen Gallo, PhD, RN, FAAN, senior vice president and chief learning officer at North Shore-LIJ, has been named the founding dean at the new nursing school.
