Mindlessly Watching TV Can Kill You

A New York cardiologist says a recent study about how watching several hours of TV each day can prematurely kill someone is another reminder that people need to remain active. The issue with watching TV for a prolonged period of time is that it can become mindless and open up the door to other bad habits, such as eating unhealthy foods or food in large quantities, says Evelina Grayver, MD, director of the coronary care unit at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. This kind of sedentary lifestyle and behavior can lead to high blood pressure, higher cholesterol, stroke and diabetes, she says. One way to combat this is by exercising while watching TV.
