Med Students Learn Wilderness Medicine at the Zoo

The Medical Wilderness experience is part of Staten Island University Hospital’s (SIUH)“Emergency Medicine Experience 2014” (EME), a week-long program giving doctors a glimpse into the ever-changing world of Emergency Medicine with sessions in Intubation, Critical Care, Trauma, and various ER sub specialties. At the Zoo, the students will get first-hand experience with residents from the Zoo’s Reptile Wing, learning how to handle venomous snakes, to identify bites and to treat snake attack victims.
