Mapping the heart with a vest

Lewis Milbouer, 63, was one of the first patients in the country to have the source of his irregular heartbeat diagnosed using a wearable sensor-enabled vest called the CardioInsight vest. His surgeon, Dr. Nicholas Skipitaris, director of electrophysiology at Lenox Hill Hospital, was able to pinpoint the exact location of his irregular heart beat in less than 10 minutes and subsequently treated it successfully with catheter ablation, a therapy that uses radiofrequency energy to destroy the abnormal tissue causing the malfunction.
