A Good Head Start with Veganuary?

Veganuary -- or a month when people are challenged to forego dairy, meat and eggs – is a British couple’s attempt to spread awareness about the vegan lifestyle. Veganism takes vegetarianism a step further and does not incorporate any animal products or byproducts. “We’ve seen that most people who are already on a vegetarian diet have the best opportunity for success on a vegan diet,” says Eric Sieden, director of food and nutritional services at Plainview and Syosset hospitals. “But if you’re a meat eater, a cheese eater, you love dairy, you’re going to have a difficult time just turning it on. Just like every other New Year’s resolution, they’re not sustained unless they’re done in earnest and with a lot of motivation.”
