There is new research into the effects of concussions on the brain of Aaron Hernandez, who committed suicide at age 27 while serving a life sentence for murder charges. It suggests that he suffered from the most severe case of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), ever found in someone of his age. Dr. Derek Chong, neurologist at Lenox Hill Hospital, called it shocking and discussed the need to create ways of better protecting athletes
