Syosset Hospital Achieves Joint Commission Accreditation for Knee, Hip and Spine Procedures

SYOSSET, NY – The Joint Commission recently recognized Syosset Hospital for its high-quality total knee and total hip replacements as well as its spine surgeries.

To get Joint Commission certification in these areas, Syosset’s total joint replacement and spine programs underwent a voluntary onsite evaluation by a Joint Commission reviewer, who looked at the programs’ compliance with The Joint Commission’s stringent standards of care including infection prevention and efficiency of patient care.

The Joint Commission, based in Oak Brook, Ill., is an independent, not-for-profit group that is involved in accrediting and certifying hospitals for the quality of their services.

“This accreditation is a great recognition of the staff’s dedication and hard work and is particularly impressive given that the orthopedic program at Syosset Hospital is only about a year old,” said Michael Fener, executive director of Syosset and Plainview hospitals.

North Shore-LIJ’s Huntington Hospital, LIJ Medical Center and Franklin Hospital have also received Joint Commission certification for their total joint replacement programs.
