Trailers will soon grace the grounds of Southside Hospital. The Bay Shore, L.I., facility filed a certificate-of-need application with the state to install temporary housing for its endoscopy unit while it figures out the program's location long-term. This should create more space for the approximately 4,800 patients who have endoscopic procedures every year. Southside's pain management program will move into the space that endoscopy currently occupies. "Southside is very short on space currently, and the plan is to keep the [endoscopy] program in these units" for the short term, said a spokesman for the North Shore-LIJ Health System.
