Southside Hospital, Volunteers Remove Debris in Islip Terrace for Earth Day

Northwell Health Eastern Region Assistant Vice President of Community Relations Edward Fraser; Southside Hospital Executive Director Donna Moravick, NP; and Keep It Clean Executive Director Nancy Cochran.

BAY SHORE, NY – Sixty volunteers from Southside Hospital, Keep Islip Clean, PSE&G, Kohl’s Cares, Solar City and members of the community came out for Earth Day to clean both sides of Spur Drive in Islip Terrace.

The group initially anticipated cleaning only Spur Drive South in the time allotted but due to the high turnout of volunteers and their enthusiasm to improve the area, the volunteers were able to clean Spur Drive North as well.

“It was amazing to see all of these people so passionate about cleaning up the area and they did a wonderful job,” said Nancy Cochran, executive director of Keep Islip Clean.

Donna Moravick, NP, executive director of Southside Hospital who participated in the clean up, said, “We take our responsibility as a community member of the Bay Shore, Islip and surrounding communities very seriously and I was really pleased with the turnout of people to clean our neighborhood.”
