BAY SHORE, NY -- Southside Hospital announced today it has received accreditation for four of its rehabilitation programs from the Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), an independent, nonprofit accrediting agency for medical rehabilitation and other health and human services. The hospital earned CARF accreditation for its inpatient, stroke, brain injury and outpatient rehabilitation programs.
“CARF accreditation provides a visible symbol that assures the public of our commitment to continually enhance the quality of the hospital’s rehabilitation services and of our ongoing focus on patient satisfaction,” said Craig Rosenberg, MD, medical director of Southside’s rehabilitation program. He explained that to receive CARF accreditation, Southside’s rehabilitation programs were measured against more than 1,000 standards for quality and service excellence. “The two-year process of applying CARF standards to our rehabilitation programs in preparation for the survey has transformed the way we deliver care and how we see our role as healthcare providers.”
Southside Hospital is one of only two Long Island-based rehabilitation facilities with CARF accreditation. It is the only Long Island hospital with four accredited programs and the only one with an accredited brain injury rehabilitation program.
