GREAT NECK, NY -- The North Shore-LIJ Health System today announced the appointment of Ramon Soto as senior vice president and chief marketing/communications officer.
“Ramon will be working with the senior leadership team and our clinical organization to help North Shore-LIJ refine our message to the marketplace and to share the unique value we create as an enterprise,” said Michael J. Dowling, president and chief executive officer at North Shore-LIJ.
He is working with North Shore-LIJ’s public relations and the marketing leadership team in integrating and overseeing the health system’s corporate communications, market messaging and branding.
Mr. Soto has an extensive background in healthcare and integrated marketing. For the past year, he has been principal of a Fairfield, CT-based consulting company focused on new market entry, product innovation and marketing strategy. Prior to that, he served as senior vice president and chief marketing and communications officer for Magellan Health, a healthcare management company based in Avon, CT. In this position, Mr. Soto led the enterprise marketing function, including product management, marketing, strategy, sales operations, research, proposals and marketing communications. Previously, he was senior vice president of commercial marketing, at Aetna, Inc., where he worked for about 10 years.
Mr. Soto also held several marketing positions at GE Capital. He began his career in advertising, leading accounts for AT&T, Western Union and RJ Reynolds products.
Mr. Soto received a bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University, and an MBA with a concentration in healthcare from the Yale School of Management, New Haven, CT. He is also a guest lecturer at the Yale School of Management and Yale School of Public Health.
