Southside Hospital will hold free cardiac screenings for adults interested in checking their risk factors for heart disease on February 18, from 8-11 a.m. The screenings will take place at Adelante of Suffolk County, a community organization located at 10 Third Avenue, Brentwood.
Health care professionals from Southside Hospital will be on hand to check blood pressure, weight and body mass index (BMI), which is a measure of body fat based on height and weight, along with glucose and cholesterol levels. There will also be a presentation on nutrition, physical activity and smoking risks.
Those interested in having their glucose and cholesterol checked should fast prior to the event. Proof of health insurance is not required to be screened.
