South Oaks Hospital names new executive director

Carolyn Sweetapple, RN, PhD

Carolyn Sweetapple, RN, PhD has been named executive director at South Oaks Hospital, Northwell Health’s 197-bed inpatient behavioral health facility that specializes in child, adolescent, adult and senior psychiatry.

Ms. Sweetapple was previously deputy executive director of Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. She holds a PhD in applied organizational psychology, is a registered nurse who specializes in cardiovascular surgery and orthopedics and a certified public accountant whose background includes finance and operations posts at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Center in Patchogue, NYU Winthrop Hospital in Mineola and Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.

Ms. Sweetapple succeeds Lenny Nartowicz, MBA, who is now the deputy executive director at Southside Hospital. Mr. Nartowicz has worked at Northwell Health for more than 16 years; he was previously associate executive director of finance at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.

Southside Hospital is a 341-bed hospital where open heart surgeries, among others, are performed; the hospital is led by Donna Moravick, NP.

“Carolyn brings a lot to the table from a clinical and financial perspective which will be highly beneficial for South Oaks Hospital,” said Kevin Beiner, MBA, executive director of Northwell Health’s Eastern region, which includes both Southside and South Oaks hospitals. “And Lenny’s expertise will help to bring Southside Hospital further into its journey as a tertiary care facility.”
