Sean T. Hwang, MD, and Deborah N. Risbrook, FNP-BC, from Northwell Health’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, each received the Professional Leadership Award at the EPIC Long Island Epilepsy Foundation’s Gala, held on January 26 at Carlyle on the Green in Farmingdale, NY.
The awards were given to Dr. Hwang and Ms. Risbrook in recognition of their leadership, compassion and outstanding care of patients with epilepsy, developmental disabilities and/or have mental health challenges.
“It was a great honor to be recognized by EPIC Long Island,” said Dr. Hwang. “I was happy to share the moment with Nurse Risbrook, along with the rest of our team at our epilepsy center. We appreciate the type of work EPIC Long Island has done over the years to support our patients with epilepsy. It is a wonderful charity.”
“It was so nice to be acknowledged for all of the hard work and dedication that goes into caring for people with epilepsy,” said Ms. Risbrook. “I appreciated having my family, colleagues and even some of my patients there to enjoy the event with me. Receiving the award inspires me to work even harder and continue advocating for my patients.”
