Oct. 27 Community Seminar: Preventing and Treating Common Athletic Injuries

Whether you or your children run, play basketball or engage in any type of strenuous workout, you may be at risk of an athletic injury.  To help educate the community, Northwell Health’s Orthopaedic Institute will offer a free seminar about preventing and treating common athletic injuries Thursday, October 27, 2016, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Long Island Jewish Valley Stream, Shankman Auditorium, 900 Franklin Avenue, Valley Stream, 11580.

Randy Cohn, MD, a Northwell Health orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist, will present “Common Athletic Injuries and How to Treat Them.”  A team physician for the New York Cosmos, Dr. Cohn’s program is geared for adults and children with active lifestyles, coaches, and athletic trainers, and will cover:

  • The importance of injury prevention
  • Top treatment options for different types of injuries
  • What to do during and after an injury
  • The latest surgical interventions for sports injuries
