In collaboration with Cohen Children’s Medical Center, Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care, the partnership between New York state’s largest health system and one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing urgent care companies, today announced the opening of state-of-the-art, pediatric urgent care centers in Five Towns and East Northport, Long Island.
These two pediatric-only facilities focus specifically on infants, children and adolescents, giving families greater access to personalized, convenient and affordable medical care. The Cohen Children’s/Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care centers provide unparalleled experiences and serve as a child-friendly alternative to costlier, more time-consuming emergency room visits for non-life-threatening injuries like ear infections, fever, diarrhea, burns, cuts, bladder infections, colds, coughs or asthma.
“As a leader in pediatric care, our patients now have the option to visit Cohen Children’s Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care centers to receive the highest-quality pediatric care for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, particularly those that happen unexpectedly or outside of regular business hours,” said Charles Schleien, MD, executive director of Cohen Children’s Medical Center, and senior vice president, executive director and chair of pediatric services at Northwell Health. “We are pleased to bring best-in-class pediatric urgent care to the Five Towns and East Northport communities.”
Designed to create an effortless experience for families and their children, the new pediatric urgent care centers feature large, engaging exam rooms that can accommodate strollers and siblings, child-sized rest rooms, germ-free entertainment tablets, and comforting colors and accents proven to help reduce anxiety in children. Available seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., the Five Towns and East Northport pediatric urgent care centers are staffed by board-certified pediatricians trained in Cohen Children’s high-quality care protocols and procedures. In addition, as part of the Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care network, the Five Towns and East Northport centers are integrated with Northwell Health’s and Cohen Children’s electronic health records to ensure uninterrupted and informed care. The centers also accept most major insurance plans.
“This partnership combines Cohen Children’s Medical Center’s pediatric expertise with Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care’s leadership in urgent care to address the need for greater pediatric care options close to home,” said Adam Boll, vice president of operations at Northwell Ventures. “We look forward to serving the families of Five Towns and East Northport in settings that are designed to welcome our youngest patients.”
For the 12th consecutive year, Cohen Children’s Medical Center was ranked among the nation’s best by U.S. News & World Report, earning top 50 national rankings for exceptional care in eight pediatric specialties – more than any other hospital on Long Island or Queens.
The Five Towns pediatric urgent care center is located at 1332 Peninsula Boulevard, and the East Northport pediatric urgent care center is located at 4199 Jericho Turnpike. Both centers are open and accepting patients as of September 7. The Five Towns center will be hosting a grand opening ceremony on September 27 at 10 a.m. ET.
