Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Medical Center at Valley Stream has again received the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for total knee and total hip replacements. The hospital’s orthopedic program has been successfully certified for six consecutive years, with the evaluation taking place every two years.
The Joint Commission is an independent not-for-profit group, and the nation’s oldest and largest standards and accrediting body in health care. During the lengthy onsite review process, LIJ Valley Stream’s compliance is assessed along with the hospital’s quality, efficiency in providing care and preventing the spread of infections.
