NEW YORK, NY – Rajendra H. Majithia, MD, has been named chair of anesthesiology at Lenox Hill Hospital effective October 2016. He previously served as both Acting Chairman and Associate Chairman of the department, and has been a part of Northwell Health, formerly the North Shore-LIJ Health System, since 1990. He is also an associate attending for Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital’s division of anesthesiology.
As chairman, Dr. Majithia will be responsible for overseeing clinical services, medical education and professional performance within the department of anesthesiology. He will also provide leadership in areas such as business development and strategic planning.
Dr. Majithia specializes in Cardiac Anesthesia and helped develop the Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery program. He is also a member of the Structural Heart Program at Lenox Hill Hospital. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology and the National Board of Echocardiography Diplomate in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography.
Dr. Majithia received his medical degree from Baroda Medical College and completed his residency at Westchester Medical Center.
