Dozens of Glen Cove Hospital and Northwell Health employees offered an inside look into their career paths at Glen Cove High School’s first Medical Career Day on October 20.
Experts gave presentations on topics from “how to get your first job” to “the road to becoming a doctor” in the auditorium while students were also able stop by tables set up in the gym filled with interactive displays and medical information.
Glen Cove Hospital Deputy Executive Director Jim Megna, one of those presenters, spoke about non-clinical healthcare careers. “It’s important for high school students to see their career options so they can imagine all of their possibilities and begin narrowing down their focus,” Mr. Megna said. “It was very rewarding to speak to these students and I hope they walked away from the day with some sense of career paths they might like to pursue.”
Glen Cove High School’s Medical Career Day was coordinated by Glen Cove Hospital’s community relations coordinator Dominique Walker. For more information about how you can bring this program to your school, contact Ms. Walker at 516-674-1809.
