To provide the freshest fruits and vegetables to patients, visitors and staff, Glen Cove Hospital recently replanted a garden on the hospital’s campus.
The garden was planted and will be maintained by the some of the members of the food and nutrition services team at the hospital.
The garden includes strawberries, peppers, tomatoes, basil and other herbs. In the early 2000s, the food and nutrition leadership at Glen Cove Hospital and some volunteers planted the original garden in the rear courtyard.
“This has been a great team experience and wonderful sustainability initiative to provide the freshest ingredients to our food and nutrition team to disperse throughout the hospital,” said Eric Sieden, director of food and nutrition services at Glen Cove, Plainview and Syosset hospitals.
