As we age, it’s common to experience stiffness, tenderness, instability or weakness in the shoulders or hips. If you or a loved one has long-term pain, you may be a candidate for joint replacement surgery. To help educate the community, experts from Northwell Health’s Orthopaedic Institute will offer a free seminar about shoulder and hip pain, joint replacement surgery and living an active lifestyle after surgery. The event will be held Thursday, September 28, 7-9 p.m. at the Clinton G. Martin Park – Community Center, 1601 Marcus Avenue, New Hyde Park, NY 11042.
The seminar, “What’s New in Joint Replacement Surgery: Shoulders and Hips,” will cover:
- Current treatments for shoulder arthritis
- When to consider joint replacement
- How to prepare for joint replacement surgery
- Rehabilitation trends for people who received joint replacement
- Living an active lifestyle after join replacement
The following Northwell Health experts will present the seminar:
Nicholas Sgaglione, MD, chair of orthopedic surgery at Northwell Health; Sreevathsa Boraiah, MD, orthopedic joint surgeon; and physical therapist Michael Langino, PT.
Snacks and light refreshments will be served.
