Free seminar to focus on joint replacement surgery for shoulders and hips

As we age, it’s common to experience stiffness, tenderness, instability or weakness in the shoulders or hips. If you or a loved one has long-term pain, you may be a candidate for joint replacement surgery. To help educate the community, experts from Northwell Health’s Orthopaedic Institute will offer a free seminar about shoulder and hip pain, joint replacement surgery and living an active lifestyle after surgery. The event will be held Thursday, September 28, 7-9 p.m. at the Clinton G. Martin Park – Community Center, 1601 Marcus Avenue, New Hyde Park, NY 11042.

The seminar, “What’s New in Joint Replacement Surgery: Shoulders and Hips,” will cover:

  • Current treatments for shoulder arthritis
  • When to consider joint replacement
  • How to prepare for joint replacement surgery
  • Rehabilitation trends for people who received joint replacement
  • Living an active lifestyle after join replacement

    The following Northwell Health experts will present the seminar:

Nicholas Sgaglione, MD, chair of orthopedic surgery at Northwell Health; Sreevathsa Boraiah, MD, orthopedic joint surgeon; and physical therapist Michael Langino, PT.
