Whether you’re considering a mastectomy or lumpectomy after breast cancer or as a preventative measure, making a decision can be difficult.
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a free community event will address these issues on Monday, October 23, 2017, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at North Shore University Hospital, Rust Auditorium, Manhasset, NY 11030. The evening includes a panel of Northwell reconstructive and plastic surgeons who will discuss the latest procedures available as well as private meetings with women who had breast reconstruction surgery.
Sponsored by Northwell Health Cancer Institute and the Division of Plastic Surgery, the event, Baring it all: everything you need to know about breast reconstruction, includes an opportunity to talk with top plastic surgeons, connect with women considering breast reconstruction, as well as offer a safe and supportive environment to meet former breast reconstruction patients who are willing to share their stories and allow women to see the results of their procedures first-hand.
At the event, attendees will:
- Speak with Northwell Health’s expert panel of plastic and reconstructive surgeons;
- Get information about breast surgery options and what to consider when making a decision;
- Learn about the types of breast reconstruction and tips on deciding which procedure is right for you;
- Find out about the importance of aftercare and having a support system.
