The Northwell Health Cancer Institute will host an educational event to present the latest research and treatments about breast cancer on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at North Shore University Hospital, Rust Auditorium, 300 Community Drive in Manhasset.
An annual community event, Breast Cancer Update, is free and open to the public. The program will begin with registration and light refreshments from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 pm. Lora Weiselberg, MD, chief of breast cancer services, Don Monti Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology, and co-director, Breast Cancer Center at the Northwell Health Cancer Institute, will welcome attendees and give opening remarks. Presentations will follow:
- Hereditary breast cancer: Moving beyond BRCA1 and BRCA2: Kenan Onel, MD, PhD, chief, Human Genetics and Genomics, Cohen Children’s Medical Center;
- Understanding Lymphedema, Mark L. Smith, MD, vice-chair, Department of Surgery, Northwell Health, director, reconstructive oncology, Northwell Health Cancer Institute;
- Breaking news: 2017 updates from the American Society of Clinical Oncology: Jane Carleton, MD, breast medical oncologist, associate chief, clinical affairs, Don Monti Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology, Northwell Health Cancer Institute;
Following presentations, there will be a questions and answers session.
