Army Veteran Highlights Role Of PA For High School Students

From treating soldiers in Afghanistan to those at Lenox Hill Hospital, Wendy Ho is a shining example of a great Physician Assistant (PA). She helped us celebrate PA Week -- October 6-12 -- this year with our annual event, in which we host 100-plus area high school students to learn about the profession and see it in action.

Ms. Ho led a live simulation of a medical emergency to highlight the role a PA plays in a hospital setting.

Working alongside some of the region’s top physicians and nurses, PAs are an integral part of the outstanding team at Lenox Hill Hospital. In fact, the hospital has more than 150 PA’s on staff between its three campuses at 77th Street, Manhattan Eye Ear Throat Hospital at 64th Street and Lenox Health Greenwich Village

Students learned about the various specialty areas of medicine in which PAs practice, and the steps one should take if interested in pursuing a career in this exciting and rewarding profession. Ms. Ho works in the hospital's surgical ICU unit, a natural transition after returning from the War in Afghanistan.
