Feinstein Institute for Medical Research scientists Chad Bouton and Daniel A. Grande, PhD, have earned Innovator of the Year awards for their respective medical innovations in the fields of bioelectronic medicine and medical 3D printing technology.

Presented by Innovate Long Island, a publication covering the regional established and emerging technology markets, The Innovator of the Year Awards look to recognize Long Island’s best and brightest ideas and the incredible people who have them. Awards are presented to innovators in several categories – software development, biotechnology, clean energy, science and technology, invention, craft food and beverage and manufacturing.

Mr. Bouton was recognized in the Science and Technology category for his research in the emerging field of bioelectronic medicine, developing devices to help paralyzed patients regain use of their limbs. Dr. Grande also received an award in the Science and Technology category for his work using the latest 3D printing technology to develop an alternative method of developing prosthetics.

“Feinstein Institute researchers are making discoveries now that define the health care industry of tomorrow,” said Kevin J. Tracey, MD, president and CEO of the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research. “Having Mr. Bouton and Dr. Grande recognized by a top LI technology publication as Innovate Long Island illustrates that we are on our way to achieving this goal and making a positive impact on patients’ lives.”
