PLAINVIEW, NY – The Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) recently awarded Plainview Hospital’s hyperbaric and wound care facility re-accreditation with distinction.
Plainview is only the fifth facility out of 30 accredited facilities in New York State and the sole facility in the New York City/Long Island region to have been awarded the honor of distinction. Plainview’s hyperbaric and wound care department treats both chronic and acute wounds throughout the body caused by diabetes, trauma, burns, pressure, radiation, vascular disease and surgery.
The Plainview hyperbaric and wound care team is comprised of general, plastic, podiatric and vascular surgeons; board-certified hyperbaric physicians; certified hyperbaric registered nurses; clinical wound specialists; certified hyperbaric technologists; nutritionists; physical therapists; certified diabetes educators; infectious disease specialists; and social workers.
“Achieving the re-accreditation with distinction is a reflection of the collaborative effort the hyperbaric and wound care team displays each and every day,” said Margie Pemberton, RN, associate executive director of Plainview Hospital. “The hyperbaric and wound care facility offers high quality, comprehensive, state-of-the-art technology, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy and advanced wound healing modalities, to help people with many different kinds of ailments to get the care they need.”
