Plainview Hospital Creates Surgical Pavilion

Kate Brennan, RN; Winne Mele, RN; Diana Gafa, RN; and Andre Saad, MD, celebrated the recent opening of the Plainview Hospital Surgical Pavilion.

PLAINVIEW, NY -- Plainview Hospital has recently created a brand new surgical center within its hospital confines. Surgeries performed will include, but not be limited to, those gynecologic and laparoscopic in nature. Service expansion plans include many surgeries performed in free-standing surgical centers as well as those more complex procedures requiring more intensive care.

The Surgical Pavilion has a patient centered focus. Starting with a dedicated family-centered waiting room located within the Pavilion, patients will then be brought to the pre-operative area, where they will have their own private rooms. Surgeries will take place within the pavilion’s two state of the art operating suites. Patients will then recover from their operation while being monitored in the six bedded post anesthesia care unit, also located inside the Pavilion.

Many of the surgeries to be done in this area will be outpatient procedures, although inpatient procedures can be performed there as well, explained Kate Brennan, RN, MS, CNOR, nurse manager of for the Plainview Surgical Pavilion.

“The people who have become familiar with Plainview Hospital and its employees can now also receive the surgical care they need from the medical providers they have come to know and trust,” said Winnie Mele, RN, associate executive director of perioperative services at Plainview.
