Phelps CEO Resigns

The president and chief executive of Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., is resigning just as the hospital prepares to sign an affiliation agreement with the North Shore-LIJ Health System. Keith Safian, Phelps’ president and chief executive for 25 years, will step down Nov. 30. Mr. Safian announced his resignation at the Oct. 22 meeting of the hospital’s board. The board accepted his resignation “with regret,” according to a press release. Daniel Blum, Phelps’ senior vice president, will succeed Mr. Safian as president.
