RIVERHEAD, NY -- Peconic Bay Medical Center’s volunteers work hard in all areas of the hospital helping patients, employees and visitors. As a form of appreciation, Director of Volunteer Services Joan Fehling brings all volunteers to The Vineyards in Aquebogue for an annual luncheon. This year, Conductor Annette Brewer and the Riverhead Middle School band provided live entertainment bringing the holiday spirit alive.
“Peconic Bay Medical Center is very fortunate to have a team of dedicated volunteers to help meet the needs of the community.” Ms. Fehling said. “The volunteer program has nearly 140 men and women who work in many different areas of the hospital, including the emergency room, gift shop, information desk, and nursing units. Volunteers have the opportunity to learn new skills or strengthen old ones, extend their social network, and help others in the community. They provide an extremely valuable service.” Ms. Fehling added that Peconic Bay Medical Center also has junior volunteers that are high school students who can obtain valuable experience by exploring a potential career in health care.
