Northwell Health Moves to New Headquarters
Northwell Health, the giant health care system that adopted a new name Jan. 1, has a new home.
Northwell, formerly known as North Shore-LIJ Health System, last month made a long-planned move of its headquarters to a three-story, 100,000-square-foot building at 2000 Marcus Ave. in New Hyde Park.
The 21-hospital health care system previously had been based at 145 Community Drive in Great Neck. The new headquarters will be occupied by about 300 employees, including top executives and staff in the legal, strategic planning, managed care, corporate security, marketing and communications, and patient and customer experience departments.
The new, leased facility includes a conference center that can accommodate 275 people. It features a 30-foot-wide video wall.
Northwell, with 61,000 employees, also has a New York City headquarters at 130 E. 59th St. in Manhattan. The not-for-profit is New York state’s largest private employer and runs medical and nursing schools with Hofstra University.

Northwell Health Relocates HQ
Northwell Health has relocated its primary headquarters from 145 Community Dr. in Great Neck to a 100,000-square-foot building at 2000 Marcus Ave. in New Hyde Park, formerly occupied by Astoria Bank.
The healthcare system, which also has a second, smaller headquarters in Manhattan, is leasing space in the building that houses about 300 administrative employees.
Northwell Health began the move on May 10 and completed it May 13, including staff, supplies and technology.
The new HQ is being occupied by a wide range of executives and administrative personnel including strategic planning, legal, marketing and communications, managed care, patient and customer experience and corporate security departments and the Northwell Health Foundation.
“We gutted the building and rebuilt everything,” Terry Lynam, a spokesman, said. “Our previous building was a mix of administrative and clinical space.”
The system’s kidney dialysis center, for instance, has been and remains based in Northwell’s old headquarters, which the system owns.
“We outgrew our space,” Lynam said. “We were able to bring most of the administrators into one building. Before, we were spread out quite a bit.”
The three-story building also includes 33,000-square-feet of garage space and 4,000-square-feet of conference space, including a conference center that can accommodate 275 people.
The conference room includes high tech features, including a 30-foot wide video wall broadcasting Northwell Health and event information.
Boston-based Unidine is opening a café in the building that Northwell described as an amenity that will include “healthy choices.”
“This is by far our largest administrative presence,” Lynam said of the New Hyde Park space. “Mostly our executive leadership have offices in Manhattan. Others who visit there typically share space.”
Northwell, which includes 21 hospitals and nearly 450 outpatient practices, also has a second headquarters at 130 E. 59th Street in Manhattan, where it occupies three floors of a 16-story building.
