MANHASSET, NY -- North Shore-LIJ’s Cushing Neuroscience Institute (CNI) and the division of neurosurgery at Lenox Hill Hospital (LHH), both part of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, hosted the second annual New York Neurosurgery symposium held on Friday, November 6 in New York City.
This year’s symposium focused on the latest advances in the treatment of spinal disorders, neurovascular disorders and brain tumors. In addition to neurosurgical faculty from North Shore-LIJ’s CNI and LHH, other renowned national experts from outside the health system were invited as guest speakers to share their expertise. Conference participants consisted of neurosurgeons, neuro intensivists, nurses and hospital administrators from around the country.
“We were delighted to host this well-attended conference so that participants could further enhance their knowledge of the latest treatments, clinical research advances and case studies of these three key areas of neurological surgery,” said Raj K. Narayan, MD, North Shore-LIJ’s senior vice president and executive director, neurosurgery service line. “At this year’s symposium, we were also happy to honor Eugene S. Flamm, MD, with the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award for his many contributions to the diagnosis, treatment and research into cerebrovascular disease.”
