MANHASSET, NY – Editor Michael Schulder, MD, FAANS, from North Shore-LIJ’s Cushing Neuroscience Institute was the leader of the team at AANS Neurosurgeon that has received the 2014 Folio: Eddie Awards in two categories.
The November 2013 issue of AANS Neurosurgeon, published by The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), won for two categories: best non-profit B-to-B standalone digital magazine; and best general standalone digital magazine.
Dr. Schulder, vice chair, neurosurgery at North Shore University Hospital and director of the Brain Tumor Center at the Cushing Neuroscience Institute, has served as editor of AANS Neurosurgeon for the past three years.
“The editorial team at the AANS Neurosurgeon is extremely delighted to receive this prestigious award in two categories,” said Dr. Schulder. “It is a testament to the dedication of the AANS staff and the neurosurgical editorial committee who work on the publication as we continue to focus on such issues as socioeconomic changes in medicine, changing practices driven by technological developments, and the evolving role of physicians in society.”
The “Eddie/Ozzie” awards are among the most prestigious awards given to those in the publishing field. This year, more than 2,800 entries were reviewed and 800 were selected as finalists in various categories. The winners were recently announced at a special awards ceremony held in New York City. While all of the other finalists were professionally-produced publications, from such organizations as Time Inc. and Condé Nast, AANS Neurosurgeon is written almost entirely by volunteer neurosurgeons.
