MANHASSET, NY – The North Shore-LIJ Health System announced today that it has created a center for rehabilitation care complete with physiatrists; physical and occupational therapists; speech-language pathologists and neuropsychologists.
This rehabilitation center, located at 1554 Northern Blvd. in Manhasset, features a half dozen physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists, including Adam Stein, MD, chair of physical medicine and rehabilitation; Matthew Shatzer, DO; Susan Maltser, DO; Anthony Oreste, MD; Renee Enriquez, MD; and Sarah Khan, DO. These physicians specialize in neurological disorders, including stroke, brain injury and spinal cord injury medicine, as well as cancer rehabilitation, spine care, amputation and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Services provided include spinal injections; electrodiagnostic testing; diagnostic and therapeutic musculoskeletal ultrasound; botulinum toxin injections and intrathecal baclofen pump management; evaluation for rehabilitation therapies; and prescription of assistive devices, orthotics and prosthetics.
Across the hall, North Shore-LIJ’s Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Services (STARS) features a physical therapy center with therapists who rehabilitate patients suffering from a variety of musculoskeletal, orthopedic and neurological disorders.
Located one floor below is North Shore-LIJ’s Transitions of Long Island, a comprehensive outpatient neuro-rehabilitation program for persons sustaining injury or disease of the brain such as traumatic brain injury and stroke.
“Offering all of these services under one roof allows for high-quality and comprehensive rehabilitation care at a convenient location for our patients and their families,” Dr. Stein said.
