Part of the North Shore-LIJ Cancer Institute, the transplant program underwent a rigorous inspection and evaluation to maintain its accreditation for another three years, underscoring the staff’s dedication to providing excellent patient care and laboratory practices. As part of the reaccreditation process, clinical, bone marrow and peripheral blood collection were inspected and evaluated, as were the processing facilities at North Shore University Hospital.
The recognition is a testament to our commitment to providing our patients with the highest level of care,” said Ruthee-Lu Bayer, MD, the program director. “Our staff prides itself on the expert care we offer and this recognition underscores their hard work.”
The transplant team at North Shore University Hospital has worked diligently to maintain its prestigious FACT accreditation. Commitment to patients' needs is of paramount importance in the review process, helping to ensure that patients treated at FACT-accredited organizations receive world-class care.
FACT is the only accrediting organization that addresses all quality aspects of cellular therapy treatments: clinical care, donor management, cell collection, cell processing, cell storage and banking, cell transportation, cell administration, cell selection, and cell release.
