Northwell Health is planning an $11.7 million outpost on Long Island for X-rays, MRIs and a range of other imaging services. The site, which would be an extension clinic for North Shore University Hospital, is designed to meet demand for early detection and treatment of cancer, osteoporosis and other conditions likely to afflict Long Island's aging population, according to the certificate-of-need application submitted to the state. The 9,300-square-foot clinic, planned for the second floor of a building in a Manhasset retail plaza, would take eight months to complete. If approved, it will include a women's area with four ultrasound rooms, two mammography rooms and a bone densitometry room. Primary care and ambulatory surgery also will be based at the site.
