Mondays at Racine

Sisters Cynthia Sansone and Rachel DeMolfetto have helped hundreds of women diagnosed withcancer. Their Islip business, Racine Salon & Spa, has offered free services and supportive therapies to cancer patients one Monday a month since 2004.

Ms. Sansone and Ms. DeMolfetto have seen their salon become an impromptu resource center and therapeutic safe haven for cancer patients. Their Mondays at Racine Foundation works to expand the supportive program to other locations.

Award-winning filmmaker Cynthia Wade produced and directed Mondays at Racineto tell their inspiring story. The film garnered an Academy Award nomination, film festival awards and appeared on HBO.

Now, the North Shore-LIJ Cancer Institute is offering three screenings of Mondays at Racine to promote breast cancer awareness. Following each presentation, Ms. Sansone and Ms. DeMolfetto will join panel discussions with health care specialists. Together, we will find ways to better provide our community with knowledge, awareness and support — and how to address the whole person, not just the disease.
