NEW HYDE PARK, NY – Long Island Jewish Medical Center has been recognized by the National Research Corporation’s Consumer Choice Awards as Queens’ preferred borough hospital for the 19th straight year, the North Shore-LIJ Health System announced today.
LIJ is one of only 34 hospitals nationwide that can claim such a winning streak, and one of only 17 hospitals to receive the award in New York State.
The annual award is given to hospitals throughout the country based on more than 290,000 nationwide consumer surveys. Winners are determined based on consumer perception of a health care facility's overall quality, image, reputation and the care provided by its doctors and nurses.
"To have won this award once is an accomplishment, but to have won it consistently since the award’s inception speaks volumes of the dedication and quality care that our physicians, nurses and hospital staff provide to our community," said Chantal Weinhold, executive director of LIJ. "We are grateful to residents of Queens for continually choosing our hospital as the provider of choice for their health care needs."
According to the National Research Corporation, its survey is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive study that measures hospital performance and consumer preferences. A list of all hospitals winning a Consumer Choice Award will appear in the Oct. 13 issue of Modern Healthcare magazine.
